Yesterday I was checking my email and discovered this very nice note from one of my clients...she said I could share it!
Thanks Alex
Good Morning Christy,
In a little more than two weeks we will celebrate August's first birthday.
Yesterday, after work Gus and I headed over to my grandfather's house to wish him a Happy 90th Birthday.
Its not every day that a mother gets to watch her son and grandfather share ice cream on such a special day.
August is the first 'home birth baby' in our entire extended family since my grandfather was born on August 19, 1920. He has the bed he was born in in his guest room. Yesterday I looked at the beautiful old bed and thought of my great grandmother, delivering her first son, 90 years ago, in the Texas heat. I wondered how much of her experience I shared last summer. Did she have a midwife?
I remember how doubtful I was the first day I came and talked to you about homebirth as we sat in your yard while Laurel jumped on the trampoline. I cannot thank you enough for your calm, confident guidance through my pregnancy. With all that I remember of the birth experience, the overwhelming pain, the fatigue, the intensity, I have no recollection of fear. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for helping me achieve the most incredible experience of my life.
Love,
Alex
