Mindy gave birth to little Ellis Coen on June 19th at 5:49pm. She had the added blessing of having her midwife who helped her have her first baby, travel all the way from California to be here for this birth. Ellie and I made a great team, although Mindy made our job rather easy. Ellis weighed 8 pounds 2 ounces and was 20 inches long. His big brother, 2 year old Jonah, slept through the whole birth, but woke just in time to have a snack with dad and snuggle with mama and the new baby as Ellis was starting to breastfeed for the first time. I snapped this picture at a postpartum visit just after Ellis finished eating...I always love when baby's fall off to sleep but still keep a hold on the breast where so much nurturing comes from.
