Granny Midwife

I love reading and hearing about midwives of the past. Granny midwives, elders in the community, spent many years of their lives helping women have babies. I just discovered these great pictures of one such midwife, Maude Callen, from Pineville, SC. She served her community for nearly 70 years. These pictures were taken in 1951 for LIFE magagzine. I honor her.
